New Delhi, July 4: The President of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), Meghna Ahlawat, has today announced a cash prize of ₹5 lakh for Divyanshi Bhowmick, who ended a 36-year-long title drought for India by clinching the Under-15 Girls’ Singles crown at the Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championships 2025 in Tashkent earlier this week.
“This is a well-deserved incentive for a young athlete who accomplished a monumental feat on her maiden appearance—defeating three Chinese and a Japanese player, en route to the title,” said Ahlawat.
“Such rewards, we believe, will not only fuel her aspirations but also inspire other young talents to chase their dreams and earn international recognition.”
The 14-year-old from Mumbai scripted history by overcoming China’s Zhu Qihui 4-2 in a hard-fought final that lasted nearly an hour. Earlier in the day, she staged a thrilling 4-3 victory against China’s Liu Ziling in a tense semi-final. In the preceding rounds, Divyanshi had also toppled China’s Yang Huize (3-1) and Japan’s Hisa Uriu (3-0) with commanding wins.
